Privacy
Your desktop stays yours.
Dangly runs on macOS and Windows without an account. Your chosen charm, its settings, and your preferences stay on your own computer.
What Dangly keeps, and where
Dangly saves a single settings file on your own computer: which charm is active, any per-charm tweaks you've made (size, rope length, opacity, position), and small preferences like mute or hide-on-fullscreen. None of it leaves your machine, and there's no account for it to be tied to.
- No sign-in, no account, nothing to create.
- Your settings live in a local file Dangly reads and writes itself, never uploaded.
- Dangly doesn't read your screen contents, keystrokes, files, or other applications.
What touches the network
Dangly makes exactly one kind of network request: checking GitHub for a newer release, and only when you press Check for Updates in Settings. Nothing checks in the background on its own. Like any request to any server, it necessarily carries your IP address; it never carries your charm choice, your customizations, or anything else Dangly has stored. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party trackers in the app today. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
What the overlay can and can't do
Dangly's charm sits on top of your other windows but is click-through by default. Your mouse and keyboard work exactly as if it weren't there. The one exception is a Rage Room item you've deliberately opened, which takes over clicks on purpose for as long as you stay in it, and stops the moment you press Esc or exit it.
